me: "where should I go for brunch on monday?"

b: "by yourself?"

me: "with maryam"

b: "you should make a list of brunch places you want to go to, go to number 1 to 10 with me, and number 11 with maryam"

nine times out of ten, brian catches the balls I lob at him and returns them with pizazz, and that's something I really like about him! and have since the beginning.

to break it down a lil further. I asked the question to open a conversation. it's a real question, and a real suggestion would have been appreciated, yes. but not expected. there were many acceptable answers, and plenty of uninteresting ones. I appreciate in a partner the ability to keep it fun. I guess I need to be entertained.

(and I guess my brain immediately extrapolates the line 20 years into the future — the rally is best when we're both down to play. we can also choose not to rally. there's the ability to play, and then there's whether you're willing to hit the ball back most of the time, whenever your partner makes a bid and not just when you're in a good mood. and from what I've seen, I think brian has mostly been more generous than I, which I'm grateful for.)
